Foodball

Foodball is a sports nutrition and football project for younger children 8 -11. It is a mix of sports nutrition advice, education and practical alongside creative football sessions. It’s extra curricular activity.

What’s involved?

5 weeks of sports nutrition education and practical sessions – the kids make and try the food before and after playing – and 10 weeks of creative and fun football sessions (important to note it’s not ‘just’ football sessions, they’re imaginative, and fun and inclusive)

Who’s it for?

For young people from disenfranchised and deprived backgrounds

Outcomes

The recipes that the children make are for pre and post work out snacks and these help with providing (healthy) energy, maintaining concentration and stamina before they play and to assist with muscle repair etc for post exercise.

The main idea is to associate a healthy diet in and around exercise thus leading to longer term understanding of how eating the right food types can not only help to sustain a healthy lifestyle, but to also help influence future dietary choices

People involved
