We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the VYD Cup, a brand-new 6-a-side football fundraiser tournament set for June 7th, 2025, at Falmer Sports Complex. Support VYD in growing the Crew Club Hawks, Whitehawk’s community youth football club.
This exciting event invites corporates, nonprofits, and football lovers alike to join a day packed with celebration, competition, and community spirit—all in support of VYD’s vital work in Whitehawk, Brighton.
Why the VYD Cup Matters
Whitehawk is one of England’s most economically challenged areas and in the top 10% of most deprived communities in the country. Many parents and players here face barriers to participating in grassroots football—something often taken for granted elsewhere in Brighton.
Funds raised through the VYD Cup will help our Youth Project, Crew Club Hawks, to:
– Make playing football more affordable.
– Coach teams and train local coaches.
– Provide equipment and kits.
– Improve facilities.
Support VYD in growing the Crew Club Hawks, Whitehawk’s community youth football club. Under the guidance of Gary Pleece, VYD’s founder, VYD coach David Bedding, Martin Schooley, VYD’s grassroots football development leader, and Chris Clayton, the club’s chairman, the Hawks are being transformed into a thriving community club with strong values and a bright future. But continued funding is crucial to sustain this progress.
Event Details
Morning:
11 AM – 1 PM: Mini round-robin tournament featuring Crew Club Hawks youth teams.
Lunch break and a short talk on VYD’s work
2 PM – 6 PM: Adult tournament featuring 12 teams, including:
- A celebrity team.
- VYD’s Away From Home refugee team.
- A Mental Health United team.
We’re looking for 9 more teams to join this amazing day. Refreshments, raffle, free player gifts, and a sparkling trophy are up for grabs!
How to Get Involved:
Entry fee: £100 per team (individual fundraising encouraged, too).
Squads of 8 players.
